"From archangels to stars, oceans to insects, flowers to mountains, everything is a soul - not HAS a soul, IS a soul." Matthew Ward -"Messages From Matthew" - Suzanne Ward
Animals Are Souls, Too!
Does that seem like a radical concept? Consider this:
"They are a source of eternal light and love on the earth--the closest that we will ever come to the Infinite Light on the earth. But why don't more people realize this? Because they (animals) cannot speak for themselves, and because as humans we think we have power over them. I have warned people...that the hereafter considers cruelty to animals a much worse offense than cruelty to another human being. Because they are often smaller and have to rely on instincts rather than education to get by in life, the energy, love and light they exude is cherished by the Infinite light..." - George Anderson "The Eyes of God"
"Comforting the Animals"
Probably no one needs to be told why the factory farm animals might need "comforting" after they have been slaughtered, but if anyone does, please take the time to stop and think about the needless suffering in their lives and deaths.
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be measured by the way in which its animals are treated." -- Mahatma Gandhi
"Until he extends the circle of compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace." -- Albert Schweitzer
"Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages." -- Thomas Edison
"But for the sake of some little mouthful of flesh we deprive a soul of the sun and light, and of that proportion of life and time it had been born into the world to enjoy." -- Plutarch (c.AD 46-c.120)
"The animals you eat are not those who devour others; you do not eat the carnivorous beasts...You only hunger after sweet and gentle creatures who harm no one, which follow you, serve you, and are devoured by you as the reward of their service" -- John Jacques Rousseau
"Vegetarian food leaves a deep impression on our nature. If the whole world adopts vegetarianism, it can change the destiny of humankind." -- Albert Einstein
"I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being." -- Abraham Lincoln
Do you know how veal is produced or the living conditions of the hens who provide our breakfast eggs? Many of us say that we love animals and if we really do, these are some of the things that we will investigate.

A 12-year follow-up study of 6,115 British vegetarians and 5,015 meat-eaters found cancer mortality was 39 per cent lower and ischaemic heart disease 28 per cent lower among the vegetarians. (Thorogood, 1994)Vegetarian Diet and Mortality
ANIMALS HAVE ANGELS TOO!
"There is an angel for each species through a soul level attachment, not an individual assignment such as human's angels have...
"At soul level animals are aware of the angelic benevolence on their behalf. Even those animals whose lives are miserable have an angel force or influence to ease discomfort or allow physical lives to end if they are in great pain. Some angels have greater numbers of animals or more intelligent ones to protect than others, but no angel's responsibilities are more important than another's because all of those lives are meaningful in the universal scheme of animal energy balancing.
"Angels bring a sense of unity for the preservation of a type of animal, but it isn't their prerogative to wipe off the face of the earth those humans who are cruel to individual animals or even an entire species. Environmentalists who are acting in good faith...are being inspired in their efforts by the animals' angels."

"Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." -- Albert Einstein
Firehouse.Com News "...Texas brings to mind mythical cattle drives across dusty plains, where a chef named Cookie serves hunks of meat to guys who talk like Sam Elliott in those "Beef, it's what's for dinner" commercials...Not Austin's Engine House 2. During certain shifts, one is more likely to pick up the scent of tofu than beef wafting out of the kitchen.
"That's because some Engine House 2 firefighters (in Austin, Texas) decided to make all firehouse meals vegan after one of them got back alarming blood-test results. (A vegan diet excludes all animal products and by-products, including meat, poultry, fish, dairy products and eggs. By definition, a vegetarian diet is not as strict about by-products.)"
Making the Switch - "Firefighter James Rae's blood cholesterol was in the 340s. That news coupled with his family's poor heart-health history, got him thinking about changing his eating habits. "We couldn't get a male in the Rae family, or my mom's side of the family, to live into their sixties," Rae said. "Big wake-up call. ... I'm athletic, but you can't change your blood cholesterol with just being athletic...I was a really big meat eater," he said.
"But fellow firefighter Rip Esselstyn, a former professional triathlete, helped convince Rae that he not only could get enough protein without eating meat, but that an animal-free diet could help stem and reverse damage done to his high-risk heart and arteries.
"For compassion reasons and for environmental reasons, it's the best way to go," Esselstyn said of following a vegan diet. He said he finds factory farming practices inhumane and environmentally destructive.
"To think that a pig or a cow or a chicken has no more feelings than your dog or cat is ludicrous," Esselstyn said. Of the environmental arguments against factory farming, he said that because of the vast amount of resources the farms require, "eating less meat is the second most important positive environmental decision that we as people can make..." -- To read more, visit this site: Texas Firehouse Goes Vegan
"Did you know? According to a Gallup poll, 96% of Americans want to see animals protected from abuse, but farmed animals are totally excluded from the Animal Welfare Act, so anything goes on today's factory farms." (From Go Veg)
"Pamela Anderson's latest project is "Kentucky Fried Cruelty," an undercover expos blowing the whistle on the cruel treatment of animals at KFC's factory farm...help spread the word about KFC's cruel treatment of chickens, and read up on other ways that you can get involved. Of course, the best thing that you can do to help animals is to stop eating them, so please consider trying a vegetarian diet - just like Pamela." To read more about KFC...

A WHALE OF A TALE, AND IT'S ALL TRUE...
If you saw the front page of the SF Chronicle on Thursday, December 15, 2005, you might have read about a female humpback
whale who had become entangled in a web of crab traps and lines.
She was weighed down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to
struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of rope
wrapped around her body -- her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her
A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farralone Islands
(outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help.
Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so
bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her, a very
dangerous proposition as one slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.
They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her.
When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like
joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a
time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around -- she thanked them.
Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.
The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following
him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

It's not my intention to offend anyone. It's just that when I first saw the pictures of the way the factory farm animals are treated, I was appalled!! I've been a veg all my life, so you can say, "It's easy for her to talk!" But perhaps some of you will appreciate being informed, as many people are unaware of the conditions in which they live and die, I know I was. With most of you though, especially those who are interested in Angels, I realize that you are probably very open-minded.
If we can alleviate even a small portion of the animals' suffering, I think it's worthwhile to try. Sometimes it's difficult to get to sleep at night as I realize that while I'm snug and comfortable in my warm bed, thousands of creatures are dying every second in horrific and inhumane ways.
To conclude this page on a hopeful note: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever does." -- Margaret Mead
